Pilates is a strength based exercise program with a focus on correct muscle activation and control, rather than the amount of weights you can lift.

It targets the core stabilising muscles of the body, especially around the spine, pelvis and scapula. Once these muscles are isolated and activated, we can progress to dynamic and functional exercises, which help to strengthen and tone the entire body.

Our classes also aim to improve posture and correct any muscle imbalances by strengthening muscles that may be weak and stretching tight muscles.

Pilates is also a great rehabilitation tool used by physiotherapists to help increase core stability and strength and assist in the management of injuries. Although this approach is based on traditional physiotherapy exercises, it differs by focusing on strengthening the body as a whole rather than a specific injury/weakness.
