Macquarie Applied Finance Centre has 5,000 alumni residing in 43 countries. Widely recognised as the industry leader in graduate applied finance education since 1980, classes are delivered by senior industry practitioners with significant expertise.

The Master of Applied Finance and the Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance are taught face-to-face via teaching centres in Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, Beijing, and Shanghai. Classes are delivered in a 4-Term teaching year between January and November, and students may attend classes at any of the teaching locations, timetables permitting. The programs are portable and flexible, with part-time and full-time modes, and in weekly or block classes.

The MAppFin and GradDipAppFin are offered with specialisations to focus studies in a particular area of industry. All students of these programs must have at least 2 years' professional work experience, undertake an interview, and provide evidence of employment and prior studies.

The Graduate Certificate of Finance is a comprehensive gateway program in finance education. This online program of study comprises 4 units of study, and classes start in each of the 4 terms. Students learn in partnership with their peers and MFAC Academics. A pedagogy of continual learning and feedback allows students to engage meaningfully with the curriculum, and to study at a shared pace with the cohort to ensure a rigorous but fair assessment of ongoing learning, understanding, and application of the theories and skills taught. The GradCertFin will develop quantitative skills used in finance, as well as critical, analytical and interpretative skills. These are sought after skills and key to employability in the sector. Students may study from any location.

Macquarie University's Applied Finance Centre was the first university in Australia to receive formal recognition from the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute as a Program Partner.

It was the first university in the Asia-Pacific region to have a degree accredited by the Professional Risk Managers’ International Association (PRMIA). Students who successfully complete the relevant parts of the MAppFin and GradDipAppFin programs are eligible for exemption from the first two PRMIA exams.

MAFC is the first strategic partner of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association in Australia. This strategic partnership acknowledges that at least 60% of the required body of knowledge for CAIA candidates is covered within the Master of Applied Finance (MAppFin) curriculum.

Other partnerships include the Financial Services Institute of Australia (FINSIA), the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, and the Risk Management Association (Australia).
Inc.
